We all need to find time to be there for ourselves. We see wellness as an active process and holistic practice towards achieving our full potential in life. Here at Thryve, we believe that taking care of ourselves is not about self-indulgence, but about self-preservation. As a mama, making sure to incorporate items in your daily routine that make you feel good, refreshed, and renewed will make you a stronger and better person for your family.

Here, we have broken down ways to incorporate the wellness elements; spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental into your daily life.

We can reach our highest level of health and contentment through small, focused changes. If we lean into these areas of our lives, we can feel more connected in a soulful way and be a change agent in the world.

Healthy, Conscious Eating

Nourishing our bodies with clean, processed-free, organic, healthy foods is something we see a high importance in here at Thryve. With our busy schedules, picky eaters, different food preferences in the household, and all the newest trends and research on what we should and shouldn’t be feeding our families and how to filter it all through. A good place to start with this is to start saving recipes or common themes on what you and your family like to eat. There are more and more great cookbooks out there offering a lifestyle around how to eat more consciously. Whether that's integrating more of a plant-based diet into your weekly meals, making a healthy AND tasty morning smoothie for on-the-go, winding down at night with a warm cup of tea or golden mylk, this will not only shift the way you think about food and what you really are eating, it will also bring more energy, love and nourishment into your daily life.

Fitness/Exercise

Movement. Any form of movement that gets the body going and makes you feel good. It doesn’t have to be a hard-core fitness class or cardio workout, but something that brings you joy and gets your body moving. It could be a nature walk, yoga, stretching or if you have time and it’s important to you, a fitness class or gym workout. Check out our blog on Home Workouts here which provide a great starting point to incorporate fitness into your weekly routine.

Meditation/Spiritual Practice

Having a spiritual practice creates a deeper meaning, and interaction with your self. It can include meditation, prayer, breathing exercises, chanting, Whatever this is to you, having something that you can feel connected to can make a huge difference with your overall sense of well-being. A few great places to start with this can include creating your own morning ritual - something you do before the household wakes up in the morning or take 10 minutes to meditate each day with one of these meditation apps we love.

Self-Work/Personal Growth

There is always room to grow and learn about yourself through deep practices, or just being still with yourself. As a modern day woman we often fill our days up with all the to-do’s and crave time for ourselves but we have a hard time finding it. When we begin to prioritize, shift other items on our daily list and become still with our mind, we begin to learn more and more about ourselves, and our true path. It could be 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or an hour - but carving out some time a few times per week will make a huge difference. A few ways we like to do this

When the kids go to bed, take this time to have a warm bath + light some candles, listen to your favourite podcasts when driving to and from school or work, get a massage, or create a daily routine to journal before you go to bed. It’s also great to set time aside each month or quarter to monitor what your goals were at the beginning of the year to help you continue visualizing and manifesting them.

Have some Fun

Kick up your heels and have some fun. Being able to let go of the daily reminders that the house isn’t clean or the routines to consistently follow will allow you to relax more and actually appreciate all of it in the grand scheme of things. It also allows you to connect with others, get to know your fun side and be happier! Go on a date with your partner, plan a brunch with your girlfriends, go on a weekend family getaway or have a family movie night. Anything that gets your mind off the to-do lists once in a while is healthy and good for the soul.

So, to sum it all up, in order to be the best mother you can be, realize you need to feel at your best on a physical, spiritual, emotional and mental level. When we take care of ourselves first, we are able to take care of our families better - and we feel stronger and more equipped for the daily unplanned chaos life brings.
